Türkiye Honors Uzbekistan-Türkiye Friendship in Hatay
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Events were held in Türkiye’s Hatay province to strengthen Uzbekistan–Türkiye friendship and to commemorate cooperation between the two countries.
As part of the ceremonies, facilities within a residential complex in the “Uzbekiston” mahalla were given names reflecting the close relations between Uzbekistan and Türkiye.
Following the devastating earthquake in February 2023 in Hatay province, Uzbekistan, on the initiative of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, was among the first countries to provide humanitarian assistance to the affected regions. Under instructions from the head of state, 24 apartment buildings comprising 306 flats were constructed in the Arsuz district.
In January this year, during the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Türkiye, the newly built residential homes were handed over to their owners. Residents of the complex have since expressed gratitude for the support provided in rebuilding housing after the natural disaster.
Events held on 13–14 June were attended by a delegation from Uzbekistan, members of parliament led by Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye Numan Kurtulmuş, as well as officials from Hatay province and Arsuz district, among other representatives.
During the ceremony, symbolic names were assigned to various parts of the complex, including Shavkat Mirziyoyev Boulevard, the “Uzbekiston” mahalla, Tashkent and Samarkand streets, the “Uzbekiston Brotherhood Park,” and the Bukhara mosque.
Members of the Uzbek delegation inspected the residential complex and related facilities.
Cultural programmes were also organised for local residents, featuring Uzbek artists, national cuisine, photo exhibitions on Uzbekistan’s history and culture, and displays of traditional crafts.
Local residents highly appreciated the initiatives, noting the significance of humanitarian support and its role in strengthening friendship between Uzbekistan and Türkiye.
