Tax Disputes Worth 168 Billion Soums Reviewed in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At the Expert Council on Tax Disputes under the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, business appeals totaling 168.0 billion soums were reviewed.

The Council was established based on Presidential Resolution No. PP–223 dated 11 July 2025 and serves as a pre-trial mechanism for resolving disputes between entrepreneurs and tax authorities. Its main objective is to ensure objective and professional consideration of such disagreements.

Following the review, it was determined that in cases involving 163.9 billion soums, the decisions of tax authorities were revised in favor of entrepreneurs. In particular, cancellation of tax assessments worth 133.5 billion soums and financial penalties totaling 30.4 billion soums was recommended.

The remaining case worth 0.1 billion soums was sent for reconsideration.

Council decisions are subject to mandatory review by tax, customs, and other state authorities and serve as an additional legal protection tool for businesses.

The Council includes representatives of government bodies, international experts, and professional tax consultants. Each appeal is considered individually with the participation of Council members.

The mechanism is viewed as a practical instrument for strengthening business rights protection and improving transparency in tax administration.
