Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Head of the Republic of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, held a meeting with the Hokim of Kashkadarya Region, Murotjon Azimov, on the sidelines of the international industrial exhibition “INNOPROM. Central Asia” in Tashkent.

During the talks, the sides discussed the current state and future prospects of interregional cooperation. Kashkadarya Region, located in southern Uzbekistan in the basin of the Kashkadarya River, has significant industrial, agricultural, and tourism potential.

The region’s economy is based on the fuel and energy sector, gas chemistry, power generation, agriculture, as well as textile and light industries.

Rustam Minnikhanov highlighted Tatarstan’s contribution to strengthening Russia–Uzbekistan relations and noted that interregional cooperation helps expand the range of mutual supplies.

He also presented Tatarstan’s economic profile, emphasizing its strong investment climate and developed industrial base, including oil extraction and refining, petrochemicals, mechanical engineering, as well as automotive production, aviation, and shipbuilding industries.

Special attention during the meeting was given to the construction of a large-scale resort complex “Gelon,” which is being implemented with the participation of Tatarstan-based businesses.

It was noted that the initiative received support from the President of Uzbekistan, who decided to ensure the necessary infrastructure for its implementation.

The project envisions phased construction in three stages and is considered one of the largest tourism infrastructure developments in the region.
