Tashkent Traffic Falls 8.2% to 1.35 Million Vehicles

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A total of 1,348,994 vehicles traveled on Tashkent’s roads over 24 hours on 6 September, 120,954 fewer than the previous day, the Tashkent Traffic Management Center said.
According to the center, the traffic flow on 5 September totaled 1,469,948 vehicles. As a result, the number of vehicles on the capital’s roads fell by about 8.2% on Sunday.
Public transport operated on 170 routes on 6 September. A total of 1,363 buses completed 19,778 trips and carried 783,090 passengers.
The Tashkent Metro transported 640,834 passengers over the same 24-hour period.
At the same time, road congestion in the capital did not exceed five points at any time during the day.
The traffic situation was partly affected by utility works carried out at eight locations. Work was conducted on Bogishamol, Al-Khwarizmi, Shokirarik, P. Makhmud, Samarkand-Darvoza and Dilsaroy streets, on narrow streets in the area around Westminster, as well as at the intersection of Farhod and Lutfi streets.
The Traffic Management Center advised drivers to take road conditions into account when planning trips in advance and to choose alternative routes where necessary.
As part of efforts to monitor compliance with traffic regulations, the Traffic Police Department identified 12 cases of vehicles driving on pedestrian paths, 27 parking violations and 22 violations of stopping rules on 6 September.
Another three violations involved the use of the “A” lane designated for public transport.
Drivers were reminded not to stop on or in front of pedestrian paths, to give way to pedestrians at designated crossings, not to occupy bus stop areas and not to use the dedicated “A” lane.
Motorists were also urged not to obstruct buses when they enter or leave bus stops.
Traffic flows and road congestion in the capital are monitored in real time at the Situation Center.
The data collected is used for operational monitoring of changes in traffic volumes and road conditions.
