Tashkent to Receive 240 New City Buses

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A large-scale modernization of the public transport system has been approved in Tashkent, including the delivery of new buses and expansion of the city’s route network, according to a decision of the Tashkent City Council of People's Deputies commission.

Under the plan, 240 new city buses will be supplied to the capital. In parallel, 16 new bus routes will be introduced, while the number of daily trips will increase by 2,000.

As part of transport infrastructure development, the city will build 16.2 km of Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lanes and an additional 56 km of dedicated bus lanes. More than 600 surveillance cameras will be installed along these corridors to improve traffic control and road safety.

The program also includes reconstruction of 1,116 public transport stops and construction of 70 new stop complexes across the city.

In addition, an intelligent traffic management system will be introduced. A total of 545 smart traffic lights will be installed to regulate traffic flows in real time and improve overall mobility efficiency.
