Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Tashkent recorded 290 suspected measles cases in the first nine months of 2026. However, the epidemiological situation in the capital and across Uzbekistan remains stable, with the number of cases down 40% compared with the same period last year, according to the Tashkent Department of the Committee for Sanitary and Epidemiological Welfare and Public Health.
The department explained that figures circulating on social media cover January–September 2026 and should not be interpreted as the number of cases detected over a short period or recorded at the present time.
Earlier, social media posts reported 290 suspected measles cases and more than 10,000 people who had been in contact with patients. The committee urged users not to misinterpret the published figures or spread distorted information.
The department also provided an update on routine childhood vaccination. During the first nine months of 2026, 47,494 one-year-old children and 42,767 six-year-olds received the combined measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccine.
