Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on 8 October on the sidelines of events in Avaza. The sides discussed further expanding multifaceted Uzbek-Armenian relations.

The meeting noted the development of political contacts between the two countries. In particular, Uzbekistan and Armenia recently held political consultations.

Positive dynamics are also being observed in trade and economic cooperation. Bilateral trade is growing, while 80 enterprises with Armenian capital currently operate in Uzbekistan.

Transport links have become another area of bilateral cooperation. Direct air services have been established between the capitals of Uzbekistan and Armenia.

Particular attention at the meeting was paid to promising cooperation projects. The sides discussed cooperation in agriculture, jewellery, light, pharmaceutical and chemical industries, as well as tourism.

In this context, the sides stressed the importance of holding the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission effectively and organising joint business events.

Mirziyoyev and Pashinyan also exchanged views on current issues on the international agenda and cooperation between Uzbekistan and Armenia within multilateral organisations.
