Tashkent Optimizes Traffic Scheme on Abdulla Qodiriy Street
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The traffic organization scheme on Abdulla Qodiriy Street in Tashkent has been optimized, reducing unnecessary travel distances and U-turn times for motorists, according to the Center for Traffic Management.
Previously, drivers traveling from the Ecopark side toward Movarounnahr and Mahatma Gandhi streets had to travel more than two kilometers to execute a U-turn at a permitted location. Following the changes, a U-turn option has been established directly on Abdulla Qodiriy Street.
As a result, the distance required to complete the maneuver has been shortened to approximately 500 meters, which is on average four times less than the previous route. According to the Center for Traffic Management, this has reduced unnecessary travel distance by nearly 75 percent.
The time required to complete the maneuver has also decreased, with the U-turn now taking about 1.5 to 2 minutes instead of 6 to 8 minutes. The agency estimates that each driver saves an average of 4 to 6 minutes per maneuver.
The department noted that given the heavy traffic volume on this section, the daily impact of the changes could be significant, including reduced congestion on adjacent streets and increased traffic capacity.
The Center for Traffic Management is continuing its targeted optimization of Tashkent's transport infrastructure to enhance the efficiency and safety of urban traffic.
