Tashkent Cites Preliminary Cause of Glinka Street Accident

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Tashkent city authorities have identified a preliminary cause of the emergency on Glinka Street, saying gas from an underground 219-mm gas pipeline accumulated in a heating network chamber and led to the incident.

An inspection of the pipeline found several leak points in a section covering about 375 square centimeters. The damaged area measures 15 by 25 centimeters.

Specialists are continuing to investigate the causes of the leak and all circumstances surrounding the incident. The Tashkent city administration emphasized that it is important not only to address the consequences of the accident but also to inspect the condition of engineering networks to prevent similar incidents from occurring again.

Once the inspection is completed, work to restore the road surface will continue. The affected section is expected to be reopened to traffic in the near future.

A criminal case has been opened over the incident, and investigative measures are underway. Following the investigation, the actions of those responsible will receive a legal assessment.

The Tashkent city administration said the situation remains under the constant control of the city authorities.
