Tashkent–Charvak toll road to cut travel time to 35-minute
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Authorities in Uzbekistan’s Tashkent region are discussing a project to build a toll highway connecting the capital with the popular Charvak recreational area, a development expected to significantly reduce travel time between the two locations. The initiative was reviewed at the regional hokimiyat building during talks attended by Deputy Hokim Shukurulla Makhmudov and representatives of Protocol Capital Group and Korea Expressway Corporation.
During the meeting, participants examined the technical design and investment parameters of the planned motorway, as well as broader infrastructure development needs aligned with modern standards. Discussions also focused on improving the region’s transport capacity and strengthening logistical connectivity between Tashkent and key tourism destinations.
According to the presented project details, the highway will span 52 kilometers and is planned for completion within a three-year construction period before being commissioned for public use.
Once operational, the new toll road is expected to reduce travel time from approximately one hour and 20 minutes to just 35 minutes. Officials say the improvement would enhance travel comfort, ease pressure on existing road networks, and help reduce traffic congestion on the current route.
The project is also expected to support the development of the Charvak tourism zone by increasing visitor flows, expanding service sector activity, and creating new opportunities for business and entrepreneurship in the surrounding areas.
