Tanzila Narbaeva, South Korean Minister Discuss AI and Safety

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Tanzila Narbaeva, Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held an official meeting with a delegation from the Republic of Korea led by Minister of the Interior and Safety Yoon Ho-jung. The sides analyzed the current state and strategic directions for further deepening the special strategic partnership between Tashkent and Seoul.

During the dialogue, a key focus was placed on global digital transformation and the integration of advanced IT solutions. The officials exchanged views on the implementation of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, the modernization of the national electronic government system, and the improvement of the relevant legislative framework regulating the digital environment.

The participants paid special attention to practical cooperation in preventing and rapidly mitigating the consequences of natural disasters caused by global climate change. They reviewed prospects for adapting advanced Korean experience to protect populations at the local level. This includes deploying digital early warning systems, evacuating citizens, and comprehensively ensuring safety directly at the level of regions and mahallas. Narbaeva highlighted the coordinating role of local Kengash deputies in effectively monitoring and implementing these initiatives.

The cultural and humanitarian portion of the talks touched upon the significant contribution of the Korean diaspora to strengthening the bonds of friendship and interethnic harmony in the republic. It was emphasized that in the coming year of 2027, the historical date of the 90th anniversary of the Korean diaspora living in the country will be widely celebrated in Uzbekistan at a high state level. Following the meeting, the sides confirmed their readiness to fully support mutual investment and technological projects, as well as to systematically expand interparliamentary and interregional ties.
