Uzbek Consulate Reviews Incident in Russia's Nizhny Novgorod Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan's Consulate General in Kazan has taken under review a situation involving videos circulating on social media showing a raid by Russian law enforcement authorities in the Nizhny Novgorod region, in which several Uzbek citizens, including a woman, appear.

The diplomatic mission said it had established contact with the relevant Russian authorities and submitted a request for official information to clarify all the circumstances surrounding the incident and to ensure the rights and legitimate interests of Uzbek citizens.

The Consulate General said it is taking the necessary measures to protect the rights and legitimate interests of a woman identified as M.S., who introduced herself as a citizen of Uzbekistan in the published video.

According to the diplomatic mission, the woman is receiving the necessary consular and legal assistance.
