Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — South Korean company TYM has donated 50 agricultural tractors powered by compressed natural gas (CNG) to research institutions, universities and a youth technopark in Uzbekistan.
The equipment was delivered under a project implemented in 2022–2026 with grant funding from the Government of the Republic of Korea. The handover ceremony took place during the InnoWeek 2026 international week of innovative ideas.
The event was attended by Deputy Minister of Education and Science Mehriniso Pardayeva, Deputy Minister of Agriculture Jamshidjon Abduzukhurov, and South Korean Ambassador to Uzbekistan Won Do Yeon.
Speakers highlighted the importance of introducing modern technologies into agriculture, using environmentally friendly machinery and expanding scientific and technological cooperation between the two countries.
The donation marks an important stage in the project to establish a platform for agricultural machinery powered by environmentally friendly compressed natural gas in Uzbekistan.
The project is funded through South Korea’s official development assistance (ODA) programme and implemented by the Korea Institute for Advancement of Technology (KIAT), the Agency for Innovative Development and Uzavtosanoat JSC.
Its objectives include adapting agricultural machinery in Uzbekistan to operate on compressed natural gas, establishing a research centre in this field and strengthening local engineering capabilities.
A building for the research centre has been completed at the AgroTech agricultural machinery cluster in Chirchiq. Modern equipment worth more than US$6.5 million has been supplied to equip the centre.
Around 50 local specialists have received training and advanced their qualifications at leading research institutes and manufacturing facilities in South Korea.
The TYM tractors underwent field trials at the AgroTech cluster with the participation of company specialists. They were also tested by the Centre for Scientific Testing and Quality Control under the Agency for Technical Regulation and received the required certification.
The project is scheduled for completion in 2026.
Its results are expected to support the transition of agricultural machinery to cleaner fuels, the development of new engineering solutions and the practical application of scientific research.
