School student dies in traffic accident in Navoi region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A traffic accident involving school students in Karmana district of Navoi region has resulted in the death of one teenager, according to the regional traffic safety department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The incident occurred on  22 April at around 21:00 in the “Malik” mahalla. A Chevrolet Cobalt carrying two students from secondary school No. 22 left the roadway and crashed.

Authorities stated that the vehicle belonged to the father of one of the schoolchildren. It was also reported that he had allowed his 16-year-old acquaintance to drive the car.

As a result of the crash, a 9th-grade student died from sustained injuries. The second student suffered injuries of varying severity and was taken to a medical facility, where he is receiving necessary treatment.
