Samarkand to Host Global Anti-Drug Forum

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan continues to strengthen its position as a safe and attractive destination for travel, as well as a reliable platform for hosting international events.

In this context, an international forum titled “Combating Transnational Drug Threats: Health, Security and Sustainable Development” will be held in Samarkand on 20–21 April 2026.

The event is being organized jointly with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and will bring together a wide range of international participants.

Representatives from the United Nations, Interpol, the European Union, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and the World Customs Organization are expected to attend, along with heads of профиль agencies from nearly 50 countries and around 500 international experts.

The high level of participation highlights Uzbekistan’s growing role as a trusted venue for global-scale events and contributes to strengthening its international image.

The forum will address current global and regional trends in illicit drug trafficking, prevention measures among youth, the development of treatment, rehabilitation and social reintegration systems, as well as the use of digital technologies and artificial intelligence in combating drug threats.

The program also includes a Youth Summit focused on promoting healthy lifestyles and increasing youth engagement.

The forum is expected to foster international cooperation, facilitate the exchange of best practices, and support the development of effective approaches to addressing transnational challenges.
