Saida Mirziyoyeva, IAEA Chief Discuss Nuclear Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan Saida Mirziyoyeva held talks with Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency Rafael Grossi during his visit to Uzbekistan for the ceremony marking the start of construction of a nuclear power plant in the Djizak region.

According to the Presidential Administration, the meeting focused on cooperation between Uzbekistan and the IAEA in developing national nuclear energy infrastructure, advancing nuclear medicine, and training personnel for the sector.

The discussions also covered prospects for further cooperation in the implementation of peaceful nuclear energy projects and strengthening the country’s human resource capacity in the field.

The IAEA Director General is in Uzbekistan to participate in the launch ceremony of construction works for the country’s first nuclear power project in the Djizak region.
