Russia Restricts Fruit and Vegetable Imports from Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Russia’s Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselkhoznadzor) will introduce temporary restrictions from May 30, 2026, on imports of fruit and vegetable products from 10 Uzbek exporters, the Russian agency said in a statement.

According to Rosselkhoznadzor, the restrictions affect companies that committed the highest number of violations during product shipments.

The agency said the decision was taken to ensure phytosanitary safety in Russia and follows an increasing number of cases involving non-compliance in shipments of regulated goods from Uzbekistan.

Rosselkhoznadzor reported that since the beginning of 2026, authorities had identified 132 cases involving quarantine pests prohibited in member states of the Eurasian Economic Union.

The statement also said that systematic violations of Russian and international phytosanitary requirements indicate, in the agency’s assessment, insufficient effectiveness of Uzbekistan’s phytosanitary safety system for fruit and vegetable exports to Russia.
