Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting between Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Head of the Presidential Administration of Uzbekistan Saida Mirziyoyeva was held in Tashkent, focusing on the development of trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.

During the talks, Mishustin said that Russia and Uzbekistan aim to increase bilateral trade turnover to US$30 billion and further diversify economic cooperation.

He noted that the countries already cooperate across a wide range of sectors, including agriculture, industry and infrastructure.

Special attention was given to transport cooperation, including the implementation of the international North–South transport corridor. According to the Russian prime minister, this direction is of strategic importance for strengthening connectivity and logistics chains.

Mishustin also said that Russia remains one of the leading sources of direct investment in Uzbekistan’s economy, highlighting the favorable conditions created in the country for foreign investors.

Saida Mirziyoyeva stated that relations between the two countries are based on trust and represent an example of long-standing strategic partnership.

She also emphasized the importance of the joint nuclear power plant project in Uzbekistan based on Russian design.

According to Mirziyoyeva, the project will serve as the foundation for the development of a new high-tech industry in the country. She added that construction of the first power unit of the nuclear plant officially began on 4 June 2026.
