Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting between Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Uzbek Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov was held in Tashkent, where both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening strategic partnership between the two countries.

During the talks, the Russian prime minister thanked the Uzbek side for the warm reception of the delegation and noted the consistent implementation of agreements reached at the highest level.

The parties stated that the governments of both countries continue to implement agreements reached by Russian President Vladimir Putin and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during their previous contacts, including on the sidelines of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.

Mishustin said Russia remains one of Uzbekistan’s leading foreign trade partners and ranks first in terms of direct investment in the country’s economy. He noted that there is further potential for expanding cooperation in energy, industry, transport, agriculture and the digital economy.

Special attention was given to the project for the construction of a nuclear power plant in Uzbekistan based on Russian design. According to the Russian prime minister, the project will have a multiplier effect on related industries, including the development of engineering and scientific personnel.

The sides also discussed the development of humanitarian cooperation, expansion of Russian university branches in Uzbekistan, increasing the number of joint educational programs, and strengthening interregional ties through the Council of Regions of the two countries.

Abdulla Aripov highlighted the importance of the Russian delegation’s visit to Tashkent and expressed gratitude for participation in the Tashkent International Investment Forum. He also congratulated the Russian side on Russia Day and noted the steady development of bilateral relations based on strategic partnership and alliance.

As part of the visit, Mishustin and Aripov also attended an exhibition of the Fifth Tashkent International Investment Forum showcasing projects in agriculture, industry, energy, mechanical engineering and digital technologies.
