Romanian Jazzappella to Perform at Tashkent Festival

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Romanian vocal ensemble Jazzappella will perform in Tashkent on May 5, 2026, as part of the International Jazz Festival in Tashkent 2026.

The concert will begin at 19:00 at the open-air площадка of the Palace of International Forums Uzbekistan. The festival itself runs from April 28 to May 13.

The event is organized by the Art and Culture Development Foundation of Uzbekistan with the support of the Embassy of Romania in Uzbekistan and the Romanian Cultural Institute.

Jazzappella is a contemporary musical project blending elements of jazz, pop and folklore in an a cappella format. The ensemble was founded by Zoltan Andras, a singer, pianist and composer, and builds on 20th-century vocal traditions enriched with original arrangements and complex rhythmic and harmonic structures.

The group has performed at major European venues, including in Bucharest and Istanbul, and will present its program to the Tashkent audience for the first time.

Romania has previously been represented at the Tashkent jazz festival. In 2024, Petre Ionuțescu performed, while in 2023 the group Ineffable took part, both receiving strong audience acclaim.

According to Romania’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Uzbekistan, Daniel Cristian Ciobanu, bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Romania continues to develop dynamically across multiple areas, including culture.

Romania’s cultural presence in Uzbekistan has expanded further in 2026. A photography exhibition dedicated to Constantin Brâncuși opened at the Kamoliddin Behzod Museum of Oriental Miniature Art, while the exhibition “George Enescu in France” was held at the Academy Gallery of the Academy of Arts of Uzbekistan. A poetry evening dedicated to Gherasim Luca also took place in the capital.

The upcoming concert is expected to become a notable cultural event in Tashkent and contribute to strengthening cultural ties between Uzbekistan and Romania.
