ROBOTIS to Launch Humanoid Robot Production in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A foundation-laying ceremony has been held in the Yangi Avlod special industrial zone in Tashkent for a project to manufacture humanoid robots and their components, being implemented by ROBOTIS at the initiative of the O‘zeltexsanoat Association.

The project envisages attracting about US$70 million in investment and creating more than 2,000 new jobs. The initiative includes the construction of a modern production complex on a 10-hectare site.

The launch of the project is expected to become an important step in the development of Uzbekistan’s high-tech industry and robotics sector.

The project is also aimed at expanding manufacturing capabilities and developing human capital in the field of advanced technologies.

Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev said the project represents an important step in establishing a new industrial sector focused on robotics, the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies, and the development of a domestic engineering base.

According to the presentation, the project's investment volume amounts to US$100 million. The enterprise is expected to create more than 2,000 jobs and become one of the first facilities in Uzbekistan to manufacture AI-controlled humanoid robots.

Special gratitude was expressed to ROBOTIS President Kim Byung-soo and the company’s South Korean partners for their confidence in Uzbekistan and the rapid launch of the project.

It was noted that the cooperation agreement was reached during talks in the Republic of Korea in December last year, after which the company moved to practical implementation of the initiative.

The Republic of Korea remains one of Uzbekistan’s key partners in investment and high technology. Around 1,000 enterprises with Korean capital currently operate in the country, while total investment has exceeded US$8 billion.

The ROBOTIS project is viewed as an example of deepening technological partnership between the two countries and advancing high-tech manufacturing in Uzbekistan.
