Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- The Korean Agency for Disease Control and Prevention reported the first cases of the omicron coronavirus strain, the local newspaper The Korea times writes.

The couple reportedly returned to South Korea from Nigeria on 24 November and were diagnosed with COVID-19 on 25 November. It turned out that an acquaintance from Uzbekistan, who was also diagnosed with a coronavirus infection on 29 November, drove them home from the airport.

Later, COVID-19 was found in the child of couples and other persons who had close contact with them.

The authorities believe that the number of contacts made by two Korean citizens, an Uzbek and their family members during this time was about 270 people.
