Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekhydroenergo JSC and South Korea’s Kumsung Engineering & Construction Co., Ltd. have agreed to develop roadmaps for the development of micro-hydropower plants in Uzbekistan. The parties also discussed adapting Korean small- and micro-hydropower technologies and prospects for implementing joint projects, Uzbekhydroenergo said.
Kumsung Engineering & Construction held a presentation for a delegation from Uzbekhydroenergo led by Chairman of the Board Islam Abdurakhmonov. The presentation covered the company’s main areas of activity, production capacities, technological capabilities and product catalogue. Proposals for developing small and micro hydropower were also considered.
Particular attention was paid to adapting advanced Korean technologies for the construction of small and micro-hydropower plants to Uzbekistan’s conditions, as well as to the efficient use of the energy potential of existing irrigation networks and hydraulic structures.
The parties also considered opportunities for local production of modern hydropower units, technology development and implementation of joint practical projects.
The Uzbek delegation included representatives of Gidroproekt JSC, the Uzhydropower plant, the National Research University “TIIAME” and the faculty of Tashkent State Technical University. This enabled a comprehensive discussion of cooperation prospects from production, engineering and scientific-technical perspectives.
Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to develop roadmaps aimed at advancing micro-hydropower in Uzbekistan.
The parties also agreed to organize an official visit by representatives of Kumsung Engineering & Construction to Uzbekistan next month to continue work on prospective projects.
