Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — A person on an international wanted list for an extremist crime has been extradited from Poland to Uzbekistan, the National Central Bureau of Interpol in the Republic of Uzbekistan reported.

According to the agency, after criminal proceedings were initiated under Part 1 of Article 244-2 of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan, the accused left the country and hid abroad for an extended period. Consequently, an international wanted notice was issued for the individual through Interpol channels.

The location of the wanted individual was established through cooperation between the Interpol National Central Bureaus of Tashkent and Warsaw. A representative of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Poland also participated in the operation.

Following the completion of the extradition procedure, the suspect was handed over to officers of the Interpol NCB of Uzbekistan.

The agency noted that the extradition resulted from cooperation between competent authorities of both states in international police interaction and the search for individuals evading criminal prosecution.

The Interpol National Central Bureau of Uzbekistan emphasized that attempts to hide outside the country do not confer exemption from criminal liability, and international law enforcement cooperation enables locating, detaining, and returning wanted individuals to face justice under the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
