Rosatom Proposes Creating 3D Printing Center in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Experts from Russian state corporation Rosatom held a specialized seminar in Uzbekistan on the implementation of additive technologies in industry, focusing on the prospects of establishing a dedicated Additive Technologies Center in the country.
The event was organized by the Additive Technologies Business Unit of Rosatom's Fuel Division.
The seminar took place with the participation of representatives from the Uzbek office of Rosatom International Network and the Uzatom Agency.
About 30 representatives from automotive, chemical, and mining enterprises attended the event, including the Navoi Mining and Metallurgical Combinat, Navoiyazot, UzAuto Motors, and other companies.
During the seminar, Russian specialists presented additive manufacturing solutions capable of enhancing production process efficiency and expanding capabilities for manufacturing complex components. Participants also reviewed wire arc additive manufacturing, direct laser deposition, and reverse engineering methods.
The project to establish the Additive Technologies Center involves forming working groups, auditing the production capabilities of enterprises, identifying a promising range of products and services, and developing state support measures for the center's development.
Ilya Kavelashvili, Director of the Additive Technologies Business Unit of Rosatom's Fuel Division, noted that developing additive manufacturing in Uzbekistan will accelerate the repair and modernization of industrial equipment, reduce reliance on imports, and expand the technological capabilities of local enterprises.
According to Rosatom, global practice demonstrates a transition of additive technologies from prototyping to mass production.
The company believes that implementing 3D printing will enable Uzbek enterprises to lower production costs, substitute a portion of imported products, and boost industrial competitiveness.
