Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Nexus Holding founder Nurmuhammad Otakhodjaev said the company plans to expand its business in Uzbekistan, create jobs in the regions and develop exports. He spoke about the company’s operations in Uzbekistan at a meeting with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

Otakhodjaev said that during his 16 years of living and working in the United States, he had not encountered, in his view, a level of business freedom comparable to what currently exists in Uzbekistan. He said he was considering continuing his activities in the country.

Over the past year, Nexus Holding has significantly expanded its presence in Uzbekistan. The number of the company’s employees in Tashkent increased from about 300 to 800. More than 3,000 people work at the company’s operations in the United States.

Employee payments in Uzbekistan have also increased. According to Otakhodjaev, the company paid US$10.3 million to dispatchers through IT Park in 2025. Since the beginning of 2026, the amount has exceeded US$18 million. By the end of the year, the entrepreneur expects total employee payments and tax contributions to exceed US$35 million.

Otakhodjaev plans to direct some of Nexus Holding’s new projects to Uzbekistan’s regions. He said he would first focus on creating jobs for young people in the Khorezm region and then gradually expand the approach to other regions.

“I will not wait until tomorrow. I will start working today, provide jobs for our young people in Khorezm, and gradually move into every region,” Otakhodjaev said.

The entrepreneur also spoke about expanding the company’s export activities. He said he had recently visited Brazil with Uzbekistan’s ambassador and held talks with representatives of the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency Apex, relevant ministries and the country’s leadership.

Following the talks, an Uzbek trading company was opened in Brazil for the first time and a corresponding agreement was signed. Otakhodjaev expects to present the results of its operations in the new market next year.

Mirziyoyev said Otakhodjaev’s assessment was particularly significant given his 16 years of experience living and working in the United States.

“I liked what you said about such benefits and conditions not being available everywhere. It would be good if you told our entrepreneurs about this more often,” the president said.
