Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Representatives of Uzbekistan’s National Agency for Perspective Projects (NAPP) and the head of the Tashkent Stock Exchange (UZSE) discussed plans to modernise the exchange’s technological infrastructure with representatives of Nasdaq.
The meeting took place on 19 October 2026 in Samarkand on the sidelines of business sessions of the US-Uzbekistan Business and Investment Council, held within the C5+1 framework between the United States and Central Asian countries.
The talks focused on a project to upgrade the Tashkent Stock Exchange’s trading, clearing and brokerage systems, as well as its market surveillance system. Participants reviewed progress on the exchange’s announced request for proposal (RFP) procedure and discussed opportunities to adopt modern technological solutions.
Following the meeting, Nasdaq proposed organising an on-site visit to study the experience of the Stockholm Stock Exchange. The proposed visit would allow Uzbek representatives to examine its trading, clearing, brokerage and depository systems, as well as its market surveillance system, including how these systems interact and integrate and which technological solutions they use.
The meeting was part of a business programme focused on expanding investment cooperation, introducing advanced technologies and developing joint projects. The programme also included thematic sessions on priority economic sectors and business-to-business (B2B) and business-to-government (B2G) negotiations.
The agreements reached are expected to support further work on selecting technological solutions to modernise the Tashkent Stock Exchange’s infrastructure under the announced RFP procedure.
