Monument of Alisher Navoi and Abdurakhman Jami opened in Samarkand

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- A monument to two outstanding representatives of Uzbek and Tajik literature - Alisher Navoi and Abdurakhman Jami was opened in the central park named after Alisher Navoi in Samarkand city.

The sculptural composition from red granite, made in the sixties of the last century, was formerly located next to the former hotel Afrosiyob, from where it was later moved to another place.

The monument was moved to the central park named after Alisher Navoi at the suggestion of the intelligentsia, artists and the public of Samarkand.

In Samarkand, the opening ceremony of the monument was held a few days ago. Representatives of the regional hokimiyat, state and public organizations laid flowers at the foot of the monument. Students read excerpts from the works of two great poets.
