Neighboring Country Incident Causes Power Outages in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Uzbekistan experienced power supply disruptions after an incident in the power system of a neighboring country affected the Central Asian unified power system. Electricity supplies across the country are currently being restored in stages, Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Energy said.

According to the press service of Uzbekistan’s National Electric Grid, specialists are working to address the consequences of the incident and restore normal operation of the power system.

The disruptions may be linked to an incident in the neighboring country. According to KEGOC, the incident occurred at 14:38 on 14 August. The L-5400, L-5300 and L-5320 transmission lines were disconnected, after which emergency protection systems were activated in the networks of Alatau Zharyk Company JSC.

As a result, some consumers were left without electricity. Local media reported that the amount of disconnected load was 300 MW.

In Uzbekistan, electricity supplies to consumers are being restored in stages as the consequences of the incident in the neighboring country’s power system are addressed.
