Mirziyoyev Honors Sindarov After Candidates Victory
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a ceremonial reception in Tashkent to honor chess grandmaster Javokhir Sindarov, winner of the FIDE Candidates Tournament.
The victory marked a historic achievement for Uzbekistan’s national chess school. During the tournament, Sindarov demonstrated consistent performance against the world’s strongest grandmasters, finishing unbeaten and scoring 10 points in 14 games, setting several performance records.
In his remarks, the head of state noted that the успех was the result of years of preparation, discipline, and support from family and coaches, as well as the systematic development of chess in the country. He подчеркнул that Sindarov’s achievement is a source of national pride.
It was also noted that two representatives of Uzbekistan are now ranked among the world’s top chess players, reflecting the growing strength and international standing of the country’s chess school.
During the ceremony, the president expressed confidence in Sindarov’s future success, including his upcoming World Chess Championship match and participation in the 46th Chess Olympiad, scheduled to be held in Samarkand in September this year.
A presidential decree awarding Sindarov the Order of “Mehnat Shuhrati” for his contribution to the development and promotion of chess, youth education, and outstanding sporting achievements was read out during the event. The state award was personally presented to the athlete by the president.
Sindarov expressed gratitude for the support and attention given to sports and youth development in the country, as well as for the trust and recognition he received.
