Large Fire Damages House and Shoe Workshop in Margilan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A large fire that engulfed several adjacent properties has been extinguished in the city of Margilan in the Ferghana region. The fire caused serious damage to the residential sector, a private production facility, and warehouses. Thanks to the prompt and coordinated actions of the Ministry of Emergency Situations employees, the spread of the flames was stopped in time, saving most of the structures from destruction.
According to official data from the department, the alert about a fire in a residential building on Oydin Street, located in the Tuyagum mahalla, was received via the emergency services number 112 on 18 June 2026 at 15:36. Firefighting units arrived at the scene five minutes later, at 15:41, with eight main fire and rescue crews.
After assessing the scale of the emergency, specialists deployed hoses and began extinguishing the fire. The rescue forces successfully localized the fire at 16:00 and completely extinguished it by 16:20.
As a result of the incident, a residential house was damaged by fire over an area of 120 square meters. Before the crews arrived, the flames managed to spread to a directly adjacent private shoe production workshop covering 120 square meters and a finished porcelain products warehouse covering 60 square meters. The roof, interior decoration elements, and stored products were completely or partially burned in the affected structures.
However, firefighters managed to cut off the flames and protect neighboring buildings with a total area of 200 square meters. The Ministry of Emergency Situations emphasized that there were no casualties or injuries in the incident.
Experts from the fire testing laboratory are currently establishing the exact causes of the fire and calculating the material damage caused.
