Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have agreed to increase the number of permitted flights between the two countries. The frequency of services on the Almaty–Tashkent and Astana–Tashkent routes could reach 60 flights per week in each direction.
The agreement was reached during bilateral talks between the countries’ aviation authorities in Tashkent, held on the sidelines of a conference of the China–Central Asia (C5+1) Civil Aviation Cooperation Working Group. The press service of Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport reported the development.
The Kazakh delegation was led by Saltanat Tompieva, chairwoman of the Civil Aviation Committee under the Ministry of Transport. Uzbekistan was represented by Jamoliddin Nazarov, head of the Ministry of Transport’s Air Transport Department.
The participants discussed expanding air links, increasing the frequency of scheduled services and improving flight availability between major cities in the two countries.
In addition to the Almaty–Tashkent and Astana–Tashkent routes, the sides agreed to increase the permitted frequency of flights on other routes between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The number will rise from the current 14 to 20 flights per week.
Kazakhstan’s Ministry of Transport said the implementation of the agreements would increase the number of available seats on the most popular routes.
