Karakalpakstan Reports 207 Illegal Dumping Cases

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Authorities in Karakalpakstan have identified 207 administrative violations linked to the illegal dumping of construction and household waste, the press service of Uzbekistan’s Ecology Committee said.

The inspection raids are being carried out under instructions from the Administration of the President of Uzbekistan and as part of the work of the Special Commission on Combating Unauthorized Waste Disposal. The measures cover all regions of the country and are aimed at identifying breaches of environmental regulations.

According to the committee, administrative reports were issued during the raids. Total fines amounted to 206 million soums, of which 5.1 million soums have been collected.

A total of 723 units of specialized equipment and 4,035 коммунal and sector workers were involved in eliminating the consequences of the violations. As a result, 22 illegal dumping sites were cleared.

Authorities also transported 1,807 tonnes of construction and household waste from the region to specialized disposal sites.

Earlier, Karakalpakstan established a permanent republican headquarters responsible for coordinating environmental protection and territory-cleaning efforts. Its tasks include conducting daily inspections and informing the public about waste disposal regulations.

The Ecology Committee said awareness campaigns are also being conducted among residents on the importance of complying with sanitation rules and the inadmissibility of dumping waste in unauthorized locations. Monitoring activities are continuing on a systematic basis.
