Japanese Companies Propose Projects for Tashkent Region

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Tashkent Region Governor Zoir Mirzaev held a meeting with representatives of leading Japanese companies to discuss expanding investment and technological cooperation in the region.

The proposed projects include the creation of an IT outsourcing centre, the launch of a pilot smart city project in Nurafshan, and the establishment of a Japanese furniture and design cluster. The Tashkent Region hokimiyat reported this.

During the meeting, the participants exchanged views on Japan’s advanced experience in digital transformation, green technologies and industrial modernisation, and reviewed investment opportunities in Tashkent region.

Zoir Mirzaev noted that favourable conditions have been created in the region for foreign investors, including companies operating in the information technology sector.

Japanese companies were invited to establish an IT outsourcing centre and implement a pilot smart city project in Nurafshan.

The sides also discussed the possibility of introducing digital solutions in public administration, utilities, healthcare and transport.

The development of the furniture industry was another area of discussion. The participants considered a proposal to establish a Japanese furniture and design cluster in the Saydovul industrial zone. The project envisages localising the production of Japanese furniture and subsequently exporting finished products to foreign markets.

Personnel training was also included on the meeting’s agenda. The sides proposed jointly establishing vocational training and Japanese-language learning centres with Japanese companies. Young people are expected to receive training there in IT, medical care and furniture production in line with modern standards.

Following the talks, the sides agreed to continue practical cooperation in the areas discussed and jointly implement promising projects.
