Japan Deports Uzbek Citizen for Illegal Stay
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Japan’s Immigration Services Agency has deported an Uzbek citizen who was residing illegally in the country, according to a statement released by the Embassy of Japan in Uzbekistan.
The embassy said the individual had entered Japan on a student visa but remained in the country after the visa expired and was subsequently detained by the authorities.
The diplomatic mission noted that individuals found to be staying or working illegally in Japan face strict enforcement measures, including detention, arrest by police, placement in an immigration detention facility, and deportation.
The embassy also stated that information regarding immigration violations is shared with the government of Uzbekistan, meaning that additional measures may be taken after offenders return to their home country.
The statement further addressed what it described as a common misconception regarding refugee status applications.
“There is a widespread misunderstanding that applying for refugee status in Japan allows a person to ‘remain in the country for a long time’ or ‘work legally.’ Filing an application for such purposes is not permitted,” the embassy said.
According to the statement, individuals whose refugee status applications are rejected may be placed in an immigration detention facility or deported. Providing false information or using fraudulent methods during the application process may also result in serious legal consequences.
The embassy urged Uzbek citizens to exercise extreme caution and not trust offers promising opportunities for illegal employment in Japan.
