Japan Deports Two Uzbek Citizens Over Visa Violations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Japan’s Immigration Services Agency deported two citizens of Uzbekistan on 24 April after they were found to be residing in the country in violation of immigration regulations.

According to the agency, one of the individuals initially entered Japan under a student residence status but lost legal grounds for stay after being expelled from an educational institution and continued to remain in the country illegally. The second individual entered Japan on a short-term visa and overstayed after the permitted period expired.

Authorities emphasized that employment in Japan under short-term visas, including tourist, family visit, or business visas, is strictly prohibited. Such visas do not grant any right to engage in paid work.

It was also noted that the student residence status is intended exclusively for educational purposes and cannot be used as a basis for employment. Once a student is expelled or drops out, they lose legal residency status and automatically become classified as an irregular migrant.

Japanese immigration authorities apply strict enforcement measures against violators, including detention in immigration facilities and subsequent deportation. Information about such cases may also be shared with the authorities of the individual’s country of origin, which can lead to additional consequences after return.

In this context, Japanese officials urged foreign nationals to exercise caution and not trust intermediaries promising long-term residence or employment opportunities under tourist or student visas.
