IMF: Uzbekistan’s GDP will grow by 5.5% in 2023

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- The economic growth of Uzbekistan will be 5.5% in 2023. This is stated in the report on the prospects for the development of the world economy of the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

IMF experts previously predicted that Uzbekistan’s GDP will grow by 5.3% in 2023. At the same time, the forecast for Uzbekistan’s GDP growth for 2024 was maintained at 5.5%.

The IMF notes that inflation in Uzbekistan in 2023 will be 10.2% (April forecast - 11.8%). In 2024, the inflation forecast is 10%.

The IMF notes that the Central Bank of Uzbekistan will not reach its 5% inflation target by 2028.

Fund experts note that the current account deficit will increase to 4.3% in 2023 and 4.6% in 2024, respectively.
