Uzbek Authorities Seize Nearly 12 kg of Hashish Oil at Airport

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Officers of Uzbekistan's State Security Service, working together with the Tashkent-Aero Specialized Customs Complex, prevented an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of narcotic drugs into the country.

The operation was carried out as part of the "Safe and Healthy Country" preventive campaign, the State Security Service said.

At Tashkent International Airport, officers inspected the luggage of a Kyrgyz citizen born in 2005 who had arrived on a Bangkok–Delhi–Tashkent flight and passed through the green customs corridor. During the inspection, law enforcement officers discovered 11.8 kg of hashish oil concealed in shampoo bottles.

During subsequent operational measures, the suspect left the narcotic substance in an apartment in a residential building in Tashkent's Yunusabad district. A resident of Chirchiq born in 2001 was detained while attempting to collect the prohibited shipment.

According to the investigation, the narcotics were transported from Thailand and were intended for further shipment through Uzbekistan to a neighboring country.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated against both suspects under Part 2 of Article 246 of Uzbekistan's Criminal Code, which covers smuggling.

Both suspects have been placed in pre-trial detention, and the investigation is ongoing.
