Health Agency Director and World Bank Discuss Healthcare PPP Projects
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) —The Director of the Agency for the Development of the Medical and Pharmaceutical Sector of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Abdulla Azizov, held an official meeting with a delegation from the World Bank Group.
The key topic of the negotiations was the improvement of existing public-private partnership (PPP) mechanisms in national healthcare, as well as the formulation of strategic approaches to attract private and foreign investment for the development of the country's medical infrastructure.
During the dialogue, the parties discussed in detail the comprehensive modernization of current healthcare institutions and the construction of new, modern medical facilities. Special emphasis was placed on the need to introduce advanced international clinic management models and to increase the overall economic efficiency of ongoing investment projects.
The meeting participants agreed that a systemic expansion of private sector participation will significantly improve public access to high-tech medical care, as well as expand the spectrum of modern medical services provided across the regions of the republic.
Special attention within the agenda was given to analyzing the existing experience in implementing projects under PPP conditions. Representatives of the Agency and the World Bank outlined promising directions for further long-term cooperation, focusing particularly on forming a portfolio of new joint initiatives capable of attracting major international investors to the medical sector of Uzbekistan.
