Grodno and Andijan sign cooperation roadmap for 2026–2028

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — The Chairman of the Grodno Regional Executive Committee, Yuri Karayev, held a working meeting with the Khokim of the Andijan region of Uzbekistan, Shukhratbek Abdurakhmanov, who arrived in Belarus at the head of an official regional delegation.

The negotiations took place within the framework of preparations for the III Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan. The parties discussed the development of industrial cooperation, the expansion of business ties, investment cooperation, and the exchange of experience in various economic sectors.

Yuri Karayev noted that Uzbekistan remains one of the key foreign economic partners for the Grodno region. According to him, the republic ranks third among CIS countries in terms of trade turnover with the region. In 2025, mutual trade increased nearly 1.5 times, and it has grown by approximately another third since the beginning of the current year.

The Grodno region supplies Uzbekistan with beef, dairy products, cheeses, baby food, woodworking products, vehicles, and equipment. In the opposite direction, shipments include cotton yarn, textile products, fresh fruits, and dried fruits.

Particular attention during the meeting was paid to investment cooperation. As Yuri Karayev noted, one successful example of industrial cooperation is the Andijantechmash enterprise, which was established in the Andijan region with the participation of Belarusian capital.

In turn, 51 organizations with the participation of Uzbek capital operate within the territory of the Grodno region. Over the past five years, they have invested more than US$10 million in projects for the production of cotton yarn and metal products.

Humanitarian cooperation was a separate topic of the negotiations. It was noted that 235 citizens of Uzbekistan are currently studying at the Grodno State Agrarian University and the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno.

Following the meeting, the parties signed a roadmap for the development of cooperation between the Grodno and Andijan regions for the 2026–2028 period. The document provides for expanding interaction in industry, agriculture, logistics, tourism, and other areas.

"The roadmap is substantive. Our common interests lie in industry, agriculture, tourism, and logistics. I am confident that the upcoming III Forum of Regions of Belarus and Uzbekistan will become an important stage in deepening our partnership, will allow for the development of new strategic initiatives, and will open additional opportunities for cooperation for the benefit of our regions," Yuri Karayev emphasized.
