Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Gomel Region Governor Ivan Krupko met with a delegation from Uzbekistan's Navoi region led by Governor Normat Tursunov to discuss expanding interregional cooperation and exploring joint investment initiatives, the Gomel Regional Executive Committee reported.

The meeting was also attended by Yuri Valevaty, Assistant to the President of Belarus and Inspector for the Gomel Region.

Uzbekistan ranks among the top ten trade partners for the Gomel region, with bilateral trade volume tripling over the past five years. Key Belarusian exports to Uzbekistan include wood processing materials, meat, dairy, confectionery products, plastics, and metal fabrications.

Governor Krupko highlighted the growing strategic importance of Belarusian-Uzbek interregional ties, reaffirming Gomel's readiness to execute joint economic, commercial, and social initiatives. Over 50 enterprises with Uzbek capital are currently registered in the Gomel region, primarily operating in retail and public catering.

During discussions, the parties outlined several priority directions for future interregional collaboration, focusing on industrial manufacturing, healthcare, and professional workforce training.

As part of the visit, the Navoi delegation inspected the region's industrial and agricultural facilities. Representatives visited agricultural machinery manufacturer Gomselmash to review equipment specifications and discuss procurement options for machinery produced by the holding.

The Uzbek delegation also visited the Novy Ostrov dairy complex at the Krasnaya Armiya enterprise in the Rogachev district and the Ozerany complex at OAO Tikhinichi, examining regional livestock management practices. Additionally, delegates evaluated operations at the Rogachev Milk Canning Factory and scheduled a visit to the memorial complex dedicated to child victims of war in Red Shore, Zhlobin district.
