Ferghana Region Expands Agricultural Cooperation with Malaysia

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Hokim of the Ferghana region, Khayrullo Bozorov, held a meeting with a delegation led by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security of Malaysia, Muhammad bin Sabtu, during the V Tashkent International Investment Forum.

The sides noted the consistent development of the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Malaysia and discussed further expansion of cooperation in the agricultural sector.

The importance of a recent visit by a Ferghana region delegation to Malaysia in early June was emphasized, along with the need to continue implementing the agreements reached. The current meeting was described as a logical continuation of the earlier dialogue aimed at deepening practical cooperation.

The sides discussed prospects for cooperation in agriculture, the food industry, agrotechnologies, fisheries, and rice production, as well as joint projects focused on producing high value-added goods and introducing advanced Malaysian expertise.

They also considered strengthening trade and economic ties, increasing export supplies, developing logistics infrastructure, and expanding pilgrimage tourism.

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security of Malaysia, Muhammad bin Sabtu, noted Uzbekistan’s rich scientific and educational heritage and supported the initiative to develop the concept of the Third Renaissance, expressing confidence in further strengthening bilateral cooperation.

Following the meeting, the sides agreed to continue systematic cooperation in priority areas. The Malaysian side also invited the Ferghana region delegation to participate in an international food security exhibition to be held later this year.
