Ferghana and Omsk regions expand economic cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from Russia’s Omsk region, led by Governor Vitaly Khotsenko, visited the Ferghana region on a working visit. The delegation included representatives of government bodies and the business community.

During the visit, a meeting was held with Ferghana region governor Khayrullo Bozorov, where the sides discussed prospects for expanding trade and economic cooperation, strengthening industrial cooperation, developing collaboration in agriculture, and intensifying cultural and humanitarian ties.

It was emphasized that the visit confirms the steady development of traditional friendly relations and economic partnership between the regions.

It was also underlined that strategic cooperation between Uzbekistan and the Russian Federation is developing on the basis of a trust-based dialogue at the highest level.

According to regional authorities, 172 enterprises with Russian capital are currently operating in the Ferghana region.

Last year, the volume of investments amounted to US$360 million. At present, 42 joint projects with Russian partners are being implemented, with a total value of US$381 million.

The sides also discussed the results of the visit of a delegation from Sokh district to the Omsk region, which took place in March. Following that visit, preliminary agreements were reached on projects in livestock farming and potato cultivation.

During the talks, priority areas for further cooperation were identified. Among them are the development of cooperation in the food industry, logistics, and agricultural exports, increasing supplies of grain and oilseed crops from the Omsk region, as well as joint projects for their processing.

Initiatives to expand cooperation in the fields of education and culture were also discussed, along with the creation of an integrated supply chain from production to the final consumer.

Governor Vitaly Khotsenko noted that cooperation with the Ferghana region is developing dynamically and is creating new directions for interaction.

During the visit, the delegation also became acquainted with industrial enterprises in the region, an exhibition of national products, and projects in the field of information technologies.

Representatives of the Omsk region highly appreciated the industrial and export potential of the Ferghana region, as well as its favorable investment climate.

Following the visit, the sides agreed to ensure regular exchange of delegations, accelerate the implementation of previously reached agreements, and further promote joint projects.
