Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — An earthquake that struck Tajikistan on the evening of 19 May 2026, was felt in southern regions of Uzbekistan, according to the Republican Center for Seismic Prognostic Monitoring.
The seismic event was recorded at 22:42:59 local time. The epicenter was located in Tajikistan’s Khatlon region at a depth of 30 kilometers.
The magnitude of the earthquake was measured at 4.8. The epicenter coordinates were given as 38.08 degrees north latitude and 69.14 degrees east longitude. The distance from the epicenter to Tashkent was approximately 354 kilometers to the southwest.
Tremors were felt in several districts of Uzbekistan’s Surkhandarya region, including Uzun, Denau, Shurchi, Sariosiyo, and Altynsay, where intensity was estimated at around 2 points.
No significant damage or casualties were reported in other parts of the country, and no information on injuries was provided.
