Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The diplomatic corps has been presented with Uzbekistan’s environmental reforms and preparations for the international exhibition Eco Expo Central Asia 2026 during an event held at the Astronomy Park by the National Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Ecology and Climate Change.

The event brought together ambassadors of foreign states, representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations, including entities of the United Nations system, UNESCO, UNICEF, the International Organization for Migration, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, the World Health Organization, the World Bank, the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe, the International Union for Conservation of Nature, the German Agency for International Cooperation, as well as other international institutions and partner organizations.

Addressing participants, Presidential Adviser on Environmental Issues and Chairman of the National Committee on Ecology and Climate Change Aziz Abdukhakimov stated that, on the initiative of the head of state, Uzbekistan is consistently implementing large-scale reforms aimed at environmental protection and the development of a green economy.

It was emphasized that Uzbekistan is strengthening its position as a regional hub for environmental initiatives through programs in afforestation, air quality improvement, waste management, and biodiversity conservation.

It was noted that Eco Expo Central Asia 2026 will serve as a practical international platform bringing together representatives of industry, financial institutions, and international partners to promote sustainable development solutions.

During the presentation, key focus areas of the exhibition were outlined, including green technologies, renewable energy, water conservation, sustainable agriculture, waste management, environmental innovation, and climate resilience. The event is designed to facilitate direct business contacts, the signing of agreements, and the expansion of investment cooperation.

According to the organizers, the exhibition is expected to attract representatives from more than 80 countries, over 10,000 participants and experts, more than 500 exhibitors, and host over 2,000 meetings in B2B and B2G formats. The exhibition will provide participating countries with additional opportunities to enter new markets, strengthen international positions, and promote national environmental solutions.

It was noted that the first Eco Expo Central Asia 2025, held in Tashkent, demonstrated strong international interest, bringing together around 3,000 participants and resulting in more than 120 agreements.

The 2026 edition will take place from May 31 to June 5 in Samarkand.

Its organization alongside the VIII Assembly of the Global Environment Facility is expected to enhance the event’s international significance and create new opportunities for expanding cooperation.

In conclusion, it was emphasized that the active participation of international partners will make an important contribution to building a sustainable future in Central Asia and beyond.
