Denis Istomin wins to move to third round of US Open

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) -- Uzbekistan’s Denis Istomin reached the third round of the US Open defeating Ecuador’s Nicolas Lapentti in five-et encounter on Friday, 4 September.

Istomin started the match with the loss in the first set 2/6, bit he came back with win in the second - 6/4. However, Lapentti was victorious in the third set - 6/4.

Uzbek player won next two sets - 7/5 and 7/6 (7/4) - to book place in the third round of the US Open.

No. 16 seeded Marin Cilic of Croatia, who defeated USA’s Jesse Levine 4/6, 2/6, 6/0, 6/3 and 6/0, will be next opponent of Denis Istomin.
