Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Croatia is considering Uzbekistan one of its priority partners for recruiting skilled workers.

The issue was discussed during talks between Uzbekistan’s Migration Agency director, Muhsinkhoja Abdurakhmonov, and representatives of the Croatian Chamber of Economy (HGK) and the Croatian Employers’ Association (HUP) during his working visit, the Migration Agency of Uzbekistan reported.

The discussions focused on developing an intergovernmental mechanism for the organised and legal recruitment of Uzbek specialists for the Croatian labour market.

Under the proposed model, requests from Croatian employers for staff recruitment would be submitted to Uzbekistan’s Migration Agency through Croatia’s public employment service.

Candidates would receive professional and language training in Uzbekistan before being selected by employers. The proposal also envisages speeding up the procedures for issuing work and residence permits to citizens selected through the intergovernmental mechanism.

The Croatian side reported strong demand for workers in construction, tourism, the hotel and restaurant industry, healthcare and retail.

The talks also considered the possibility of inviting a delegation of 10–30 Croatian companies to an international business forum to be held in Uzbekistan.

During the visit, company representatives would be able to visit training centres and select candidates directly.

The proposed mechanism is intended to strengthen direct cooperation between Croatian employers and Uzbek specialists while expanding opportunities for legal employment abroad.
