Former khokim of Samarkand region was taken into custody

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) -- Former khokim of Samarkand region Turobjon Djuraev and a number of employees of the hokimiyat are taken into custody. This was reported by the program "Akhborot 24" of the "Uzbekistan 24" TV channel.

Juraev was recently released from the post of khokim of Samarkand region for abuse of office and committing criminal actions.

According to the reportage of the program, he and his accomplices are suspected of receiving bribes for issuing permits for construction of apartment buildings and distributing land plots to entrepreneurs of the region for construction of residential facilities.

Also, the former deputy governor of Samarkand region for industrial development, capital construction, communications and utilities Utkir Abdullayev, construction specialist Bakhodir Khodjakulov and assistant khokim Botir Khodjakulov were detained.

Investigative actions are being conducted. The accused are taken into custody.
