Art of crafting and playing the rubab added to UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage List

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) —  During the 19th session of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage, the art of crafting and playing the rubab was inscribed on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The nomination was jointly submitted by Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, Iran, and Tajikistan. This marks the 16th element from Uzbekistan to be included in UNESCO’s list.

The inclusion highlights the international and national recognition of the rubab, supporting its preservation and transmission to future generations.
