Almalyk ASTI Students Join Russia Summer University
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.uz) — Students from Almalyk State Technical Institute participated in the "Summer University – 2026" international educational program organized by Siberian Federal University in Russia.
Selected through a competitive process, representatives of the mining and metallurgy disciplines studied in an international academic environment, exchanged experience with foreign students, and studied modern engineering technologies.
According to the institute, 430 students from 20 countries participated in the program, including Uzbekistan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, China, Brazil, Ecuador, Egypt, and Chile.
A key area of study was the "Digital Transformation in the Mining and Metallurgical Complex" course.
Participants studied geographic information systems, digital modeling, industrial automation, artificial intelligence technologies, and process modeling techniques, while also gaining hands-on experience with ProCAST and DEFORM-3D software packages.
As part of the program, students visited several major Russian industrial enterprises, including RUSAL's Krasnoyarsk Aluminum Smelter, Krastsvetmet, and the Krasnoyarsk Hydroelectric Power Station. During the visits, they learned about practices in digital production management, automation, environmental safety, and energy efficiency enhancement.
In addition, participants took part in an international hackathon focused on developing innovative projects.
Students from the Almalyk institute presented initiatives aimed at improving the efficiency of the nuclear power plant currently under construction in Uzbekistan. Following the final stage, the UzYadro team, which included institute representatives, won the "Most Advanced Project" nomination, as evaluated by international experts.
Organizers also arranged a cultural program, excursions, and meetings with students from various countries, which contributed to developing intercultural communication and broadening professional horizons.
The institute emphasized that participation in the international program allowed students to acquire modern knowledge, practical experience, and international cooperation skills essential for training competitive engineering personnel.
